Red hat linux 9 is inexpensive and freely available with the source code of the software under the license terms of the GNU general public license (GPL)
The features of red hat linux 9 are :
  • Open source – provides us with free source code . we can classify the software available to end users to closed source and open source . in closed source software the source code of the software is not  available to an end user. As a result the end user cannot modify the information in the source files . the  open source software is available to all end users . this software provides its end users can customize the  software . the ownership of the source code does not belong to any one person .
  • Rollabllity- enables the system to run without any breakdown.red hat Linux 9 crashes only due to fatal user mistakes.
  • Performance – provides us width consistent high – level performance on workstation and networks .red hat Linux 9 enables large number of user to work simultaneously on it without affecting the system speed.
  • Network-friendly – provides powerful support for network functional such as setting up client and sever system or performing network backups
  • Multi-user support- enables multiple users to access the system at the same time . each user to sign in using their username and password to access the system .
